Tanroh Ishida (石田淡朗) is both a classically trained actor from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and a professionally trained Japanese Traditional Theatre actor.
He trained in Japanese Noh/Kyogen Theatre and has performed more than 400 times including in The Comedy of Errors at Shakespeare's Globe.
He came to the UK eight years ago and has worked in western theatre ever since. He co-wrote and performed Kyogen - Raw and Uncooked at the Edinburgh Festival 2006 (5*, The Scotsman).
As well as being an actor, he is an Assistant Director for London's improvised theatre company The Improsarios.
He is also an Artistic Director of Tea Leaf Theatre Company, a company he funded to bring together theatre techniques from the East and West.
